After reading your brief post on the Madonna lily, I looked it up, wanting to see its growing habits. I did so even though here in central Virginia it could be cultivated only in a pot; voles would feast on the bulbs and even if any should manage to send up a green shoot, the deer would likely take them down to the ground. That has been the case for many flowers I would otherwise grow in situ, including tulips.
