The Sisterhood Transcends Politics

LAURA BUSH told Fox News yesterday that she approved of Elena Kagan’s nomination to the Supreme Court. Kagan is a woman, and that’s good enough for Mrs. Bush. Imagine a man making this stupendously superficial assessment of a judicial candidate and getting away with it.
Elizabeth Wright writes:
Throughout her husband’s tenure, I paid no attention at all to Laura Bush. I associated her with some kind of reading crusade (typical presidential wife stuff) and dismissed her. Now, she sounds like someone who desires to be acceptable to the mainstream opinion makers, and perhaps she was that way all along. I wonder if we shall see her supporting Democratic candidates, among other liberal activities.
