Have you heard? Now we have computer engineer Barbie. Computer engineer? C’mon.

I do work with some attractive and intelligent women engineers, but it’s about a 12-1 ratio of men to women. Of course this is due to oppression of patriarchal males perpetuating.. . blah, blah, blah. Now in HR, marketing, finance, it’s much different.

I’d like to see Barbie sporting a minivan with the kids. But that would mean they would have to create homemaker Barbie. That’ll be the day! Homeschooler Barbie sounds interesting too!!

Did you know that pink glasses are a sign of high intelligence? It’s true.

The computer engineer Barbie is wearing more clothes than most of the Barbies currently available in my local stores. This is the first new Barbie I have seen in a long time that has an outfit with sleeves and a collar. Most of the Barbies for sale now come with very tight, skimpy outfits. I would buy computer engineer Barbie for my daughter because it is better than buying what looks like hooker Barbie.

Worse than Barbie engineer is the Barbie Tanner set. Tanner is Barbie’s dog and he defecates little pellets. The Barbie Tanner set comes with a magnetic pooper scooper and trash can to clean up after him.

Ode to the Alpha Female

Based on your assigned attributes,
you have been given a special task:
To specialize in those haunting fields,
following the magnetic pull of your soul.

You have been granted your wish,
to rule with men in their heavenly abode,
for what they think belongs to them
has become your playground.

And cycles always run the course
Your cycle being stronger than most,
for all the dolls in your house
but copy you in your splendor.

Because men would put you in their place
You will uphold them how you can.
You will take to task their problems,
which they created for themselves.

Barbie will rescue us all,
not in her physical self,
but the self that becomes her
and presents her montage to the god she adores.

That’s really it these days, no? Women have the choice of being pseudo-men or whores.

That day happened. Quite a while ago.

A pregnant Barbie with a baby doll is not quite the same as  Barbie with a van full of children.

But it’s MUCH more obviously a “homemaker” Barbie than a computer engineer Barbie is some kind of feminist manifesto, “c’mon.” :-)

Laura writes:

A pregnant Barbie is much more realistic than a computer engineer Barbie.
