Men in Skirts
October 27, 2011
WOMEN will be boxing for the first time in the 2012 Olympics and the Amateur International Boxing Association has asked the female participants to wear skirts. Naturally, the women are up in arms. Yahoo Sports reports:
Three-time world champion Katie Taylor from Ireland does not want to wear something that she would find uncomfortable while fighting: [That’s right. Boxing never involves discomfort.]
“It’s a disgrace that they’re forcing some of the women to wear those mini-skirts. We should be able to wear shorts, just like the men. [And you should be walloped and suffer brain damage just like the men too. Isn’t one of the perks of being female the privilege not to box?]
“I won’t be wearing a mini-skirt. I don’t even wear mini-skirts on a night out, so I definitely won’t be wearing mini-skirts in the ring.” [I would be supremely surprised if you ever have a night out with a man regardless of what you wear.]
Who the heck cares whether these Amazons wear skirts or pink frou frous? Women don’t belong in the boxing ring. Period. Female boxers are about as interesting as a male synchronized swimmers. They are pretend boxers, acting their roles in the ridiculously drawn-out farce that is modern male and female relations. If only a director would emerge from the sidelines and say, “Cut! Alright, that’ll do. Let’s wrap this up and go home.”

That is so funny. My husband and I just tuned-in to an MMA radio show last night. The whole time they talked about nothing but the women’s MMA fighters. We were both saying, “Man, could they pick a more boring topic?” My husband laughed when I said, “If these women are really so tough, why don’t they fight the men in their weight division?” That’s not really what I care to see, but at the same time, what is the point of a woman having the ability to beat up other women? Are they going to beat me up? Oh, okay, let me set my nursing infant down so we can brawl. Some of these super buff, highly trained women have actually shown that they fear me. Why? It’s because they don’t want to be humiliated by the truth, and the truth is that women are meant to be feminine. Sorry, Butch.
I take Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes, and I’ve even taken some kickboxing classes, just because it’s a great work-out. But never in my life would I want to actually fight someone, blow for blow. I have considered competeing in a BJJ tournament, because even as effective as BJJ can be, it’s actually improved by gentle motion. But even that is too miserable and rough for me to really want to dedicate myself to it. There are much better ways for me to leave my marks in history as a woman. I feel sorry for these girls who cannot seem to find an identity unless it’s being “one of the guys”. It’s a slash of the feminist sword that has rendered these women’s real virtues useless.
