Phony Grievances Here, Persecution in Egypt

January 29, 2013

DANIEL S. writes:

While American liberals celebrate the lifting of a ban of women serving in combat roles in the U.S. military, as well as news that the Boy Scouts of America are considering lifting their ban of homosexuals among its membership and troop leadership, and that there is a bipartisan consensus in the Senate to grant amnesty to millions of illegal aliens, the Catholic patriarch of Egypt has come out decrying the alienation and persecution of Coptic Christians in Egypt.

Now there might not seem to be any sort of obvious relationship between domestic events in America and those in Egypt, except that the same politicians and media outlets that have eagerly embraced the Revolution in America are the same that have condemned the Christians of Egypt to perpetual violence, repression, and persecution. The same politicians and media hucksters that pushed for the radical “freedom” for women in the American military and amnesty for illegal aliens are the same that incited the “Arab Spring” and pushed for the overthrow of pro-Western regimes in the Middle East that had tolerated, if not protected, Christians. To add insult to injury the American government now supports with hundreds of millions of dollars of foreign aid the Islamic regimes in Egypt and Libya that have been eager to persecute and repress Christians and other religious minorities. Someone like John McCain will openly champion “freedom” for women and homosexuals in the military and illegal aliens, while throwing his full support behind Mohamed Morsi of Egypt, who’s government recently sentenced a woman and her children to jail for converting to Christianity.

Here we see the malevolent hypocrisy of elite liberalism, an ideology which will peddle the phony grievances of petty minority groups, while consigning those who’s lives and religious freedom are truly jeopardized to the hell and prison of Islamic totalitarianism. The politicians and their media hatchet men can proclaim that they are the vanguard of freedom, but in truth their hands are soiled with the innocent blood of the Christians of Egypt, Syria, Libya, and Iraq.
