A New Tradition for Moribund St. Louis
July 4, 2013
WILL G. writes:
Here is a picture of the mayor of St. Louis, Francis Slay, kissing the ring of a local drag queen at the Pride Parade. A new tradition perhaps? What will it mean if a mayor doesn’t kiss the ring in the future?

Samson writes:
This photo is grotesque – not because of the person in the dress, but because of the mayor. The photographer managed to capture all the hideous, degrading squalor of a fat, middle-aged man throwing himself on the mercy of his vile captors. You can practically hear him squealing and begging to sell his soul. Contrast this photo with the heroism of the St. Louis statue in the other recent post.
Samson adds:
You probably know that there are several cities where a Christian essentially cannot become mayor, because to be mayor one is forced to kneel before the homosexual lobby each year. The current scandal-embroiled mayor of Toronto, Rob Ford, had the support of Protestant Evangelicals in the city because of his refusal to attend “Gay” “Pride,” but he finally caved in this year.
Perfesser Plum writes:
I respectfully disagree with Reader Samson’s statement that the photo is grotesque, “not because of the person in the dress…”
That outfit is unfit for human habitation. What’s with the loathsome train? I bet a bunch of ‘little persons’ will zip out in a clown car, blowing kazoos and waving to the crowds. [Laura writes: I have no interest in defending the dress, but it was a parade.]
And the hair? It’s so 70s.
The guy looks like a yenta from Long Island.
My policy is that if a fellow wants to look like a woman, he should do more than throw on an old schmata and a cheap wig.

That is memorable and profound.
