Supervisor of Japanese Female Scientist Ends His Life

ANTI-GLOBALIST EXPATRIATE writes:
Note that this prominent Japanese researcher who committed suicide was Haruko Obokata’s supervisor, and a co-author of her fraudulent research papers.
Obokata was hailed as one of Japan’s top njeko, or “science girls,” before portions of her internationally acclaimed stem cell research were found to be faked.

I wish to submit a small correction on your excellent website. A “science girl” should be a rikejo, リケジョ, shorthand for rikei joshi, or 理系女子. The original page cited by Anti-Globalist Expatriate had it as rijeko, which was a transposition error. Njeko is not a word in Japanese, but neko is – a cat.
Thank you for all the hard work you do. Your website provides me with much sanity in the midst of California.
