A while back, James Lileks wrote a humorous coffee table book called Interior Desecrations. This certainly qualifies as such. The Netherlands went from being Holland and home to Vermeer and Rembrandt and Van Gogh to being Nether…nothing. What a sad demise for the Church to see the triumph of Godless secularism.
On the other hand, the Internet can harbor as much beauty as it can ugliness, so I will close with a beautiful Icelandic hymn. It’s 800 years old and incomparably lovely:
