There, you’ve captured it at a glance; the full arc of the American experiment, from sober virtue to decadent vice. Look at that room Trump is in. The old forms of fine European decor are retained but in tasteless imitation. McMansion Versailles, where the gold looks like spray paint, the marble looks faux, and the furnishings tacky. A vacuous bimbo is splayed over a piano that never gets played. Trump posing as Master of the Universe. It is a press release piece of marketing that shouts SEX AND POWER!
But at least the scene pays homage to our heritage instead of rejecting it outright, as would the same scene set inside a modern white box. Trump wants to be seen as the defender of the old values because he knows there is an underserved market to be exploited. His motive in running is the same as in his last campaign; to get himself publicity. The thrill of being in the public eye is life itself to Trump. To show just how hideous our politics has become, this toupéed blowhard is the only national figure in America who will stand up and say it’s outrageous that foreign invaders can come here and kill us with impunity. And ALL our elites denounce him for saying it!
God bless Mr. Trump for that one service. But in the end I think his commitment to defending us will prove to be hollow. A marketing ploy. Rather than face the actual cost a real commitment would entail — the likely ruin of his business, social ostracism by the elites, and an unending sewer of slander against him in the media, I think he’ll revert to form. He’ll soon be back to playing golf with his buddy Bill Clinton and making nice with all his elite pals, including those in the media. And he’ll have gained for himself the false luster of courageous champion of the people while actually having abandoned them
Would to God he proves that wrong. But just look at that photo of him. That says it all.

I like the expression on Trump’s face. You got to hand it to him. He really is a ham.
Mr. Trump’s latest hour in the limelight is a glorified, political version of The Apprentice. It’s a show. If he were truly a subversive figure he would not get a dime’s worth of coverage in the media. The powers-that-be love him. He creates sensation. He gives a few false hopes to the masses. He furthers the program of progressive decadence. He’s damn good for business, even though some of his sponsors have supposedly dropped him.
I feel sorry for those who think he can somehow make a positive difference. For one, no one in the casino business should hold the reins of power.

To parrot Colin Powell, why shouldn’t a billionaire serial womanizer and his gold-digging, exotic super-model “wife” be considered equally qualified for the presidency as anyone else? To say otherwise is un-American at its core!
I disagree: the future of the American Presidency is a lesbian “married” couple with a couple of adopted foreign kids.

Exactly.
