Fox News Panel Attacks Kim Davis
September 8, 2015
CHERYL Chumley at World Net Daily reports on a Fox News show in which two attorneys and host Gregg Jarrett come to the unified conclusion that Kim Davis’s legal defense is “stunningly obtuse.”
The attorneys reject both the argument that the Supreme Court does not make state laws, and thus cannot command Davis to issue same-sex “marriage” licenses, and the argument that Davis has a constitutionally-protected right to act upon her religious beliefs.
[Attorney Sharon Liko] said Davis can always quit her job if she doesn’t want to abide the [Supreme Court] order and called her a “hypocrite” who’s “applying for the job of a martyr.”
[Attorney Chip] Merlin, a trial attorney, echoed that line of thought, saying Davis shouldn’t be surprised she’s in jail – she should “expect” it because she violated a judge’s order.
“She can still practice her faith,” Jarrett said, Raw Story reported. “Just not on the job in a way that interferes with the legal rights of the citizens she serves. And in fact, the Supreme Court said so nine years ago.”
He also decried those who “pick and choose what laws they like,” saying such scenarios lead to “chaos” and “anarchy.”
We all know that Fox News is just another propaganda machine. Still, it’s a bit shocking when a Fox news panel cheers the criminalization of Christianity and the overthrow of the Constitution.
