The Times Enraged by Trump
March 2, 2016
ANÂ unhinged editorial today in The New York Times looks at Trump’s “politics of rage:”
They are leaning, in unbelievable numbers, toward a man whose quest for the presidency revolves around targeting religious and racial minorities and people with disabilities, who flirts with white supremacists and the Ku Klux Klan, who ridicules and slanders those who disagree with him.
Making fun of one disabled reporter does not constitute “targeting … people with disabilities.” I don’t care for Trump, who doesn’t always act civilized and has a poor record on moral issues, but this is  exaggeration. Trump can beat Hillary and they know it. Many young voters, indoctrinated in political correctness all their lives, will see through it. With enemies such as this, they will want to be Trump’s friend.

I would add that it’s not just the one reporter: He also publicly mocked a different conservative critic for being paralyzed. If there are two instances that are widely known, I’m sure there are plenty more, as where there’s smoke, there’s fire. However, “targeting” is indeed hyperbolic, as he makes fun of everyone (even people who only minorly slight him!) quite viciously. I don’t think he particularly targets a single group, but he does go for the jugular in an unethical way.
I am far more concerned about his personally deeply unethical behavior (polygamy, expressions of lust for his own child) and his dishonest “new stance” (sorry, don’t buy it) on abortion. I do wish that reporters would quit skewing and exaggerating his behaviors. He does plenty to critique on his own, and it just makes it seem like they want to make a political point (which of course they do) rather than state the facts.
