THE SAKER reflects on the forced resignation of Gen. Mike Flynn, Trump’s National Security Advisor:

Frankly, my heart goes out to all those who sincerely hoped that Trump will be the man to free the US from the Neocons and restore the power of the “basket of deplorables” over the many minorities and special interests.  Some will now indulge in a lot of “I told you so” but they will be wrong.  To hope for the best was the right thing to do.  Those who voted for Trump did the only thing in their power to prevent Hillary from occupying the White House.  That was the right decision, they did the right thing, both morally and pragmatically.

But now we also need to gather our courage and accept the reality of what has taken place.  Minimizing the implications of this deep state coup makes no sense whatsoever, neither morally nor pragmatically.  And the reality is this:

It took the Neocons and the US deep state less than a month to overturn the results of the Presidential election.

Flynn’s real “offense” appears to be that he favors détente with Russia rather than escalation of a new and dangerous Cold War. Trump’s idea of a rapprochement with Moscow – and a search for areas of cooperation and compromise – has been driving Official Washington’s foreign policy establishment crazy for months and the neocons, in particular, have been determined to block it.

Though Flynn has pandered to elements of the neocon movement with his own hysterical denunciations of Iran and Islam in general, he emerged as a key architect for Trump’s plans to seek a constructive relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Meanwhile, the neocons and their liberal-interventionist sidekicks have invested heavily in making Putin the all-purpose bête noire to justify a major investment in new military hardware and in pricy propaganda operations.

The neocons and liberal hawks also hated Flynn because – as director of the Defense Intelligence Agency – he oversaw a prescient 2012 analysis that foresaw that their support for the Syrian insurgency would give rise to “a declared or undeclared Salafist principality in eastern Syria.”

Do not despair and certainly not so quickly!  JFK was killed and Reagan nearly killed; Wallace was paralyzed; Nixon reduced to a broken shell of a man, a whole planeload of American patriots killed outright; all within our lifetime.

Trump is doing astonishingly well.  He and his cabinet are either independently wealthy with significant private security and intelligence capability or “living legend” soldiers whose men would follow them to hell at their command. That the bastards of the Deep State have, for all practical purposes, loosed the Color Revolution machinery against him is a sign of their desperation as their standard tricks have been futile.  Even Obama was neutered within weeks of assuming office!

There is also the real possibility that Flynn is on a very important mission, perhaps the most important of his life: flush out, identify and neutralize the traitors within the Deep State.  Certainly the Flynn spectacle has the appearance of a Hollywood thriller’s “honey pot” story element.

We common citizens have little to offer the President and his team apart from moral support and loyalty.  He has already done what most conservative politicians laughed off as impossible.  There is one thing we might do, however, that would have salutary effect for many years: take the fight home.  Engage and defeat #NeverTrumpers in your circle.  Take the damned hit to your career – I have and am here to tell of it—and do to the SJWs and Fellow Travellers what they have done to us since V-E Day:  TAKE THE FIGHT TO THEM WITH UNRELENTING DETERMINATION.
