I was just explaining to a liberal interlocutor a few moments ago that Independence Day has taken on for me, in recent years past, a “Day of Mourning” sort of a significance. But in any case I really appreciate that you refer to it as Independence Day. It has long been a personal pet peeve of mine that this day is so often referred to by its calendar date.

If freedom means having nothin’ left to lose then Americans have cause to celebrate their freedom. But this is also a day to be hopeful and filled with love of our country.
