My family were refugees from the Nazi’s [sic] and Stalin. As a child I believed everything I was taught at school. My elders would gently correct me, but I would shout them down and say they were anti-semitic, even my Aunty Ruth (Jewish, holocaust survivor). Now I am finding all this new information and all my articles of faith fall away, I am left with the view of the war my elders tried to share with me. They are all dead now and I can’t even apologise.
