Not Men, but Mice

Kyle mentioned the incident in 1977 when Anita Bryant was hit by a pie thrown by an advocate for queerdom. I agree with the essence of what he wrote, but  something has been left unsaid regarding the significance of that incident.  I would like to say it.

In 1960, Anita Bryant recorded two love songs that became popular: “Paper Roses” and “My Little Corner of the World.” I remember listening to her recording of “Strangers on the Shore” on a St. Louis radio station in the wee small hours on nights in 1968 and thinking how beautiful it was.  She was a lovely, talented woman. She became a member of Bob Hope’s troupe who entertained American soldiers overseas. She was widely admired by Americans, and rightly so.

Less than ten years later, she was assaulted, insulted, and portrayed as a villainess by American “journalists.”

That fact alone proved that a Cultural Revolution had taken place between those years, a revolution in response to which the older generation, who should have known better, offered little or no opposition.

Anita Bryant was entirely right to speak in defense of a proper code of moral and cultural standards and to oppose some of the effects of that revolution.  But she was not her own best defender.  That was not her fault.  I doubt that she could have imagined the intensity of the attacks that would be unleashed upon her by well-trained agitators and provocateurs, or the impotence of American men in response to those attacks.

That she was humiliated and vilified was, I suggest, the fault of stupid or unprincipled American white men. They should have stood by her. They should have spoken and acted promptly in her defense when she was attacked. They should have seized her assailant, decked him, tied him up, tied his hands behind him, and then administered three pies to his face at five-minute intervals, to allow him time to absorb the effect and think about it. Then, to cap off the proceedings, they should have invited her assailant to apologize to Anita Bryant for assaulting her and for being such a degenerate creep, but with a promise of severe bodily punishment should he decline that invitation.

If you can’t “get the picture,” then imagine John Wayne or Randolph Scott reacting to a similar assault upon one of their women.

American white men would have done that in 1907. That they did not do it in 1977 proves, I suggest, that they were no longer men but mice. That what is absurdly called “The Law” did not prosecute her assailant proves, I suggest, that by 1977 the Cultural Revolution had gained control of “The Law”.  That she was vilified by “journalists” proves, I suggest, that there is nothing “neutral” or “objective” about American “reporters” who showed themselves all too eager to repeat Leftist-engineered smears.

Since then, it has only gotten worse.  When American white men agreed to surrender their proper, historic patriarchal authority, they surrendered their nation. It is as simple as that. But there is worse: By the time Anita Bryant was attacked and vilified, most white men chose to remain deaf, dumb, and mute while permitting such decent, principled women to suffer the punishment for their spinelessness.

Alan is correct in framing this shameful episode as the result of a lack of intestinal fortitude in white men. I’ve witnessed countless social interactions where a woman has displayed more testosterone than their male partner–the Anita Bryant video as an example. Her Christian faith was closely tied with her public image and as we know, atheists are always on the prowl looking to agitate a Christian into a confrontation so they can point and say, “ah hah!”. Cold-cocking the jerk would’ve been justified and discouraged future behavior.

In saner times, the activist would’ve been made an example of, but as was pointed out, a massive cultural shift occurred between the Eisenhower-Kennedy years and the post-Nixon era. Men lost the stomach for fighting. This explains the rise of Donald Trump, who has become an avatar for white men tired of having the finger wagged in their faces for past sins of our fathers. His tendency to hit back, name-call and verbally smack around his critics with no apologies has a catharsis effect for a generation of men who never learned to fight for themselves. They’ve seen their fathers and grandfathers “play nice” with the progressives for the past five decades and have inherited “no-fault divorce”, “rape culture” and tireless charges of “white privilege”. I see signs that the gloves are starting to come off, which could be a bad sign for future stability of our nation.

The emasculation of men has only hastened since the 1970’s and this is proven by the prevalence of drug and porn addiction. Not being able to learn skills on the farm from their father has decreased hardiness and made men soft–psychically and spiritually. Today, boys are expected to conform to the hyper-feminine teaching environment of the modern public school classroom, where the honey-tongued feminist teacher reigns supreme. These teachers stomp out any display of “toxic masculinity” (aka healthy energy) of the boys, who, naturally will be sent to a pediatrician for an ADHD diagnosis on their suggestion, but that’s another topic for another time.
