Well it’s happened in my state – the official news is that several people have contracted the virus – all members of the same family; some are reported dead of it, with the rest in that family in critical condition, and names have been named!
Mass anxiety over fear of illness, death, madmen have taken over once again, so it’s time to trot out the who, what, and when, and where so that the people can…do what, exactly?
Now that it is months from the original breaking story about COVID, we are socially locked down (sorry, “distanced”) so we don’t have much chance now to find out, in normal conversations, if anyone in our circles actually knows of an instance of someone coming down with this virus. The intrusive micromanagers in high places have long told us that we must not inquire too deeply on our own about things that affect us. Oddly we accept the hypocrisy of their diktats. Asking questions of friends or neighbors, who really have no reason to lie about a widespread contagion, and once a perfectly normal thing to do, has been linked in our minds with dangerous disobedience.
Lastly, there’s HIPAA. That same law that says the health of our loved ones is not for their doctors to discuss, even with us, under penalty for it’s infraction, appears to be being ignored by naming the virus’ victims.
Or is it, or are they, really?
