“You Are Too Logical”

Visited your website.
You are too logical.
The social control artists are exploiting fear-of-death-induced panic and control. The world is not a logical place and we limit the effectiveness of our messages by appealing to logic. They show pictures of a dead baby, many coffins, homeless being herded, patients lying on hospital floors, it is those images that provoke fear. Our messages can’t compete. They make it appear they have all the weapons, ventilators, masks, chloroquine, etc.
If we can put something in their hands — vitamin C, etc., then just for placebo effect it works to allay panic.

Thanks for writing. I strongly agree with you in terms of personal encounters. When we’re out in the world or with friends and family, we should not throw facts and figures around unless we are absolutely sure others are prepared to look beyond appearances.
Most people are in an emotional state, they are traumatized and we should not aggravate their distress. Besides, the idea that they are being manipulated is for some people much, much more upsetting than a lethal virus!
On social media, there is an army of trolls fanning the flames and spreading rumors such as that the virus permanently damages your lungs.( In Taiwan, where the illness has been contained, the government punished rumors with steep fines.)
We should go along politely with all the social distancing protocols and show that we are not afraid or anxious. Yeah, vitamin C or something like that is a good idea.
The written word, on the other hand, is for reflection. People can click off a website and walk away if they are offended. My purpose is not to spread the message simply but also to reassure those who sense something is wrong and to let them know that they are not alone. The fact that we are likely the victims of high treason is in itself disturbing.
I know that in the long run good will prevail.
Update:
For others striving not to be logical, I highly recommend this speech by Rep. Haley Stevens (D-Mich.). She’s a good role model.
