One Man Resists Covid Tyranny

Thank you for your continuing coverage exposing the lies and harm that are being spread over society as easily as soft butter on bread. I visit your site for a reality check when I have been particularly tried by ignorant and fearful people.
Today my husband and I took a walk mid-morning (he’s working remotely from home) to discuss his employment situation. He started his new job (two states away) mid-March, right before the insanity began. He worked one week on location before “lockdown” began and has been working at home mostly since. When restrictions began lifting he and I started to travel in our RV to his new job and stay there during the week every other week, coming home on the weekends. Our house has not sold yet, and considering it’s supposedly a seller’s market (if the buyer can get financing), we’ve been questioning things. Does the Lord have a different path for us? I firmly believe there’s a reason the house hasn’t sold yet.
Two weeks ago my husband’s employer sent out an informational email informing all management that a new program was being rolled out, and they expected all managers to “positively” encourage their employees to sign up. They, the company, want to “shepherd” employees into being better people “at work, at home, and in the community.” The new program requires each employee to sign a HIPAA disclosure statement allowing the company and two third-party companies access to the employee’s health record “as it pertains to Covid-19.” The main third-party named is Accolade, who touts their services as helping employers lower their insurance costs. The employees are to download an app and fill out several health questions every morning, whether they are working from home or at the office. Though Accolade clearly states it does not employ health professionals, it will determine if you are allowed to work that day and, if not, report this to your employer and dispense medical advice to the employee. They require this information on work days and highly encourage you to continue on the weekends and vacation. Contact tracing is an automatic function of the app. There are more requirements, but this paints a clear enough picture for you. There are so many things wrong with this entire program that I won’t take your time going over them all; I’m sure you can already recognize them. Quite angry, my husband replied to all 100+ managers on the list that he would not be signing his rights away and that he didn’t need a shepherd to tell him how to behave, he already had the Lord.
Immediately, the program was stopped and re-directed to legal and my husband received censures from his boss and the “safety” manager who sent out the original email. He was told that it wasn’t proper business etiquette to send his reply to all on the list; he responded that if someone else felt as he did but couldn’t speak up, he wanted others to know they weren’t alone. This company is high pressure and can be bullying at times. No one responded until yesterday when my husband received a phone call from a manager in another state. She wanted to know what blow-back he had received for his email because she and several other managers agree with him, but are too scared to speak up. They spent almost half an hour on the phone.
Today the program has been rolled out; apparently legal sees no problem with asking employees to sign away their federally protected medical information rights. We are trying to determine if he will be fired for not signing (haven’t seen any language to that effect yet), or if he should cut his losses and quit. It would be a relief to be done with this company at this point, so we’ll see. We have been praying for clarity and direction, and know that the Lord has all of this firmly under His loving control.
I’m sorry for taking up so much of your valuable time today, but we have been dealing with this seemingly alone and I just wanted to tell our story to someone who hasn’t been brainwashed by current events. It’s been an emotionally stressful time. The long-range implications of this new policy are breathtaking in scope and we can’t believe a global corporation has rolled this out. People are signing it left and right, ostensibly to keep their jobs, and I’m beginning to think no one really cares if this madness ever goes away. Thank you for keeping at it; those of us on the firing line need the confirmation that we aren’t alone.

George Weinbaum writes from Houston:
Have your husband contact an employment attorney NOW. In many states it is a tort to fire an employee for declining to waive his rights as long as the right in question is granted by legislation.
I suggest your husband not resign, but wait to get fired, if it happens.
Being fired may give him a “jackpot” lawsuit to pursue.
If Accolade is dispensing “medical advice”, your state’s medical licensing board be interested.
I also suggest your husband start looking for another job. I don’t think he should work for a company like his current employer.
Good luck!

I applaud Colette Smith and her husband for standing up to the tyranny. They rightly recognize God as their Provider and Protector, and are acting in harmony with that simple truth. Remember King David’s words in Psalm 37:25, “I have never seen the righteous forsaken, nor His seed begging bread.” (By the way, all of Psalm 37 is so very relevant to today’s headlines.) God will provide the needs of His children, and He cannot NOT keep His promises.
In this fallen society, it is amazing how much lawlessness is being tolerated. HIPAA invasions on every front – yet just last fall, when my mother was hospitalized, I was unable as her personal representative to get simple medical records. Now, it is expected that we will allow perfect strangers access to our daily health updates and that they can decide for us whether or not it is “safe” for us to be out in the world. But, we must remember that these things will only proceed if we allow them. “Government derives its just powers from the consent of the governed.” Again, I applaud Mr. and Mrs. Smith, and the many others like them. YOU ARE NOT ALONE!
