My first thought was that Lahaina was being cleansed of its current population in order to pave the way for new, more wealthy and therefore more “worthy” occupants, like Ukraine, NYC, Chicago, California are deliberately being made unlivable. I don’t know about DEW, but it’s very plausible, even likely, given the lack of governmental response as fires raged. I did not know the history of the people there, and their refusal to sell. I’m surprised they just didn’t tax them out, like in Vail.
