How to Lie Effectively

July 27, 2024

THREE tactics are essential to successful lying on a large scale — something I don’t personally recommend.

The first strategy is to lie big — really big. Most people (in the Western world), if they lie at all, fall into small lies. They can’t grasp the mentality of those who invent spectacular lies. They just can’t accept that such brash manipulation exists. There’s a sort of hubris beneath this non-acceptance, an escapist rejection of the reality of evil. The gullible want reality and the fallen state of man to conform to their expectations. Truthfully, who can blame them? It’s hard to reckon with being conned.

Knowing all this and likely being a keen observer of human nature, the liar wields big lies with abandon.

The second strategy is to double down on lies if doubts are expressed, possibly wrapping an original lie in a fabric of new, supporting lies. This way liars exhaust skeptics and deceive them by false conviction. “Never surrender” — that’s the motto of the skilled, psychopathic liar or intelligence agent.

Finally, repeating a lie over and over and over again without wavering creates a virtual reality that appears to be true. Repetition, as every first grade teacher knows and every successful advertising agency practices, penetrates the mind, seduces and overcomes resistance. Repetition has an hypnotic effect. Say something untrue again and again and again, and it will be accepted.

With these three strategies it is possible to deceive millions, even billions, of people. It truly is simple and not very difficult. But in order to utilize these strategies one must believe that lying is a righteous form of warfare.

The lie is a weapon. The lie is worth more than fighter jets. It may be more effective, more devastating and much less expensive or risky than military conquest. The field of battle is the human mind.

As for how to face liars effectively: sadly, we have no innate affinity for the truth. We are fallen, in mind and being.

Truth always wins in the end. But God wants us to fight for it and to pray fervently for light.
