The Black Market in Infants, cont.

August 3, 2015

IF you want to know more about the commercial use of fetal stem cells, often procured by companies through Planned Parenthood, the Children of God for Life website offers a thorough overview. Food seasonings, anti-aging creams, coffee creamers, and vaccines are among the products that contain fetal cells. All chicken pox and measles vaccines are made with fetal cells. One study shows a link between the rise of autism disorder and the use of aborted fetal cells in vaccines.

In this video clip, a spokeswoman for the pro-abortion organization Emily’s List defends the use of cells from aborted babies by the pharmaceutical industry. Children of God for Life argues that the idea of a social good obtained is likely increasing the incidence of abortion:

Proponents of aborted fetal tissue research argue that their work is morally separate from the abortion itself and that one’s personal view should not affect the ethical considerations in the good that may result from such research. However, when we examine the impact fetal tissue research has on institutionalizing abortion, coupled with the direct complicity of all parties involved there is unquestionable proof that one cannot be separated from the other. Bernard Nathanson on the “Abortion Cartel”

July 30, 2015

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_7hJoPl6bDQ

EDWARD writes:

In light of the recent Planned Parenthood exposé videos, you might be interested in this lecture from the 1990s by Dr. Bernard Nathanson, former abortionist, NARAL founder and eventual Catholic convert. He discusses fetal tissue research and the medical inefficacy of the practice. He also discusses amniocentesis and the RU-486 pill.

I thought it provided some interesting perspective on the long-term strategies of the abortion industry. Read More »

Another Women’s Anti-Health Initiative

May 1, 2013

UNDER a new FDA ruling, the abortion-inducing drug known as the morning-after pill will be available on regular pharmacy shelves to girls as young as 15 without a prescription. The federal government once again shows itself to be the committed and unstoppable enemy of women. Feeding toxins to young girls and preventing procreation are government priorities. Liberals show more respect for the physical health of chickens than they do for human beings. In the last three decades, since abortion and oral contraceptives became widely available to teenagers, the incidence of advanced, metastatic breast cancer in young women has increased dramatically and there is good evidence that these are among the causes, which is to say nothing of the far more serious, non-physical effects of pharmaceuticals that enable girls to be promiscuous and callous.

When will you hear an outcry about these toxic health effects from all those liberals who cherish their organic eggs? Don’t hold your breath.

The Stupid Party Throws Akin to the Wolves

August 23, 2012

THE RESPONSE of the Republican Party to the “legitimate rape” remarks made by Missouri Congressman Todd Akin show once again how, on cultural issues, the GOP would rather concede than defend its views or attempt to persuade.

When asked to explain his position that abortion should not be allowable in cases of rape, Akin said: “If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down.” There is a reason why Akin felt the need to use a qualifier. The term “rape” encompasses violent assault by a stranger and coercion by a friend or “date.” While both may involve coercion, they do not have the same traumatizing effects. Judie Brown at LifeSite News writes:

While I am not quite sure what he meant to say, I can guess that he was attempting to define an actual criminal act in contrast to the rape claims sometimes attributed to dating experiences gone wrong, when the female in question changes her mind and decides she never said yes in the first place. Women Charged with Crime for Abortion

June 11, 2012

JEANETTE V. writes:

Interesting how this woman who induced her own abortion at 20 weeks is being portrayed as a victim. She is a victim — of feminism and the cheapening of sex and marriage and ultimately of human life.

Walking the Walk, and Breast Cancer Lies

May 15, 2012

IF WOMEN knew the truth about the causes of breast cancer, would they behave with such silliness and immodesty at breast cancer fundraising events such as the recent Moonwalk in London? Would they be so enthusiastic about supporting the organizations that are, if not lying to them, at least consistently downplaying the truth?

The truth is, feminism causes breast cancer.

Abortion, delayed childbearing, childlessness, lack of breastfeeding, the birth control pill — many medical experts agree these phenomena, all abundantly supported by feminists, are connected to the striking increase in breast cancer in Western women.

Here are some relevant quotes from medical experts provided by the Coalition on Abortion/Breast Cancer, which has a wealth of information on the issue: Read More »

Professors Call for Infanticide

February 29, 2012

Francesca Minerva, a professor of ethics at the University of Melbourne

MRS. Z. writes:

Perhaps you saw this article from The Blaze. According to two ethicists from Australian universities, in a recent article in the Journal of Medical Ethics, newborns should not be considered persons, and therefore doctors and parents should be allowed to determine if “after-birth abortion” is the best possible option for the family and society as a whole. According to the article, Read More »

Contraception and the Culture War

February 3, 2012

MARY writes:

Mike Adams writes eloquently about the issue of abortion and he is right: pre-1973 thinking about abortion is not enough. How about pre-contraception?

Elizabeth Anscombe wrote this of contraception in 1972: “… what can’t be otherwise we accept; and so we accept death and its unhappiness. But possibility destroys mere acceptance. And so it is with the possibility of having intercourse and preventing conception…This can make the former state of things look intolerable…”  Read More »

The Pro-Abortion Young

March 14, 2011

SEE THIS video of a recent pro-abortion rally of mostly white young people in Chicago. Leaving aside their crude behavior and depressingly ugly clothes and hairstyles, it is interesting how these protesters seem to be oblivious of the thousands of infertile couples eager to adopt babies or of the fact that since abortion became widely available the number of children raised without fathers has skyrocketed or of the below-replacement level fertility of their own people.

What kind of old people will these sheltered, boorish youths be someday? Our colleges are factories that churn out ignorance, crudity and raw ugliness. Read More »

Abortion and Unwed Motherhood

February 21, 2011

TRAVEL THROUGHOUT America, into small towns, or big suburbs or dense cities, and you will find the phenomenon of single motherhood. One of the most obvious developments of recent years is the lower middle-class white girl who comes from an intact or relatively intact family and who ends up as a single mother. She finds herself in this situation because she is anti-abortion and yet not anti-fornication. There is no pressure on her to marry and yet there is the good and healthy moral incentive to refuse abortion.

She may be cheered by friends and religious organizations for her decision to have a child. And, refusing abortion is the right thing to do. However, it is easy to confuse this heroic decision as something that makes single motherhood right and good. Unless both abortion and unwed pregnancy are stigmatized, social conservatism becomes an unwitting promoter of single motherhood.

Abortion rates have fallen in recent years while single motherhood has increased precipitously. Here is a 2008 piece by Selwyn Duke on the relation between anti-abortion sentiment and the growth of single motherhood. The answer is not for anti-abortion efforts to become less zealous.  Both abortion and single motherhood were shameful fifty years ago and the incidence of both was much lower.

Memories of Indoctrination

February 2, 2011

JILL FARRIS writes:

Thank you for posting this article. Planned Parenthood is a for-profit agency that makes millions of dollars exploiting women. It has always targeted blacks and minorities from the very beginning of its history (as the Birth Control League started by Margaret Sanger). If you doubt that PP targets blacks, check out how many abortion clinics are located in inner-city black neighborhoods and how many are actually on Martin Luther King Blvd! Margaret Sanger called blacks “human weeds” that must be eliminated.

If your local PP does not currently have an abortion clinic but, instead, has “education” classes, be aware that their education classes unleash evil through information. My mother (who still thinks Margaret Sanger was a “great humanitarian”) sent me to PP’s Human Sexuality course when I was 16 years old. It was there that I viewed movies of bestiality, homosexuality and other perversions. Every class period ended with a bowl of condoms being passed around. The “teacher’s pet” was a beautiful 16 year old who was often called upon to testify about the abortions she had had with her 35-year-old biker boyfriend and how she was doing great after all these abortions. If PP is really about giving women a “choice,” why were we not told anything else in this class except that we needed to be sexual (in any way and form we liked) and that abortion has no consequences, physically or otherwise? Lies, both of them. Classes were always mixed; teen boys and girls together in order to break down our natural modesty and embarrassment about discussing such intimate details with the opposite sex. A Word for Adoption

February 1, 2011

KAREN writes:

Regarding the discussion over abortion and adoption, I just had to offer a few thoughts. I am adopted and I was adopted into a family that has been plagued with some amount of infertility in every generation.  There are at least seven people who are adopted in our extended family.  It is a wonderful thing. My adopted mom said our joy comes at the price of heartbreak for someone else, which is so true and yet we all seem to be well-adjusted and well-loved. I dislike hearing that some people think that all adopted children are emotional wrecks. This gives adoption a bad name. Having met my biological family as an adult, I can say that a few of my own quirks (and we all have them, adopted or not) came directly from my birth family.

Adoption is so much better in a case where a mom is emotionally unable to raise her children. Abortion is never the answer. My cousin just paid thousands of dollars to adopt her daughter and it took years while a million babies were thrown in a garbage can in that same time.I cost my parents the huge sum of $5.00 in 1959 .The Bible is full of stories of adoption. It is not a bad thing.

Nursed for Ages

January 26, 2011

EXPATRIOT writes:

Perhaps this poem would be an inspiration to the woman who is considering abortion. I’ve always found it to be especially moving. It’s Rabindranath Tagore’s own English translation of his Bengali original. Actually I’ve seen several slightly different versions over the years, but this is the one I know by heart.

 The Beginning

“Where have I come from, where did you pick me up?” the baby asked its mother.
She answered, half crying, half laughing, and clasping the baby to her breast:
“You were hidden in my heart as its desire, my darling.
You were in the dolls of my childhood games, and when with clay I made the image of my god each morning, I made and unmade you then.
In all my hopes and my loves, in my life, in the life of my mother you lived. Read More »

Where are the Pregnancies on Campus?

January 13, 2011

JAMES N. writes:

My wife and I were sitting by the fire, with the five girls enjoying a snow day, when I took the opportunity to go through your archives, and I read “Emmie’s Future.” For me, the money quote is yours: “The sexual revolution did not free people from inhibitions and guilt. If it had, there would be pregnant women everywhere.”

Of course, there would be – thousands and thousands – of Ivy League pregnancies if nature were to take its course. Of course, the absence of those pregnancies is caused by shame and guilt.

Thank you for lighting up the darkness with simple declarative sentences. “In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act” Read More »

Why the Culture War is a Religious War

February 24, 2010

THE DEMOCRATS could have their health care reform. They could summon the votes if they abandoned the hope of government-funded abortion. Why don’t they concede on an issue ancillary to the goal of nationalized medicine?

On the Stupak amendment, Lawrence Auster writes:

It’s fascinating that the campaign to nationalize health care, which Stupak otherwise supports, is crashing in a heap because most of the liberals who demand the state funding of health care also demand the state funding of abortions. The lesson is that liberalism is unable to stop itself from driving over a cliff, because its inherent egalitarian logic compels its votaries to seek not only material equality, meaning in this case the equal provision of medical insurance, but moral equality as well, meaning the elimination of moral standards and the state subsidization of immoral behavior.
