Woman’s Work

WOMAN'S WORK --- Fay Inchfawn Always one more meal to get; one more train which must be met; one more hopeless sock to mend; one more invalid to tend; one more salve for one more knee, one more visitor to tea; one more future bruised and scarred; one more drop of spikenard; one more problem, one more doubt; one more mood to be smoothed out; one more smile and one more kiss-- Ah, but ministry like this will outlast the radiant sun. Woman's work is never done. (Posted in honor of my mother, who died last year. Her birthday is today.)

The Bread Box

ALAN writes:

By the year 2003, an old friend and I had reached an age where we looked backward more than forward.  We spent many hours riding through south St. Louis neighborhoods to see what remained from the streets, parks, schools, churches, theaters, buildings, and houses that he recalled from his boyhood and that I recalled from mine.

A letter I found by chance in a St. Louis newspaper from 1999 fitted perfectly into that frame of mind.  It was written by a widow named Ann McGauly, who was looking back to her childhood in the 1920s in the 800 block of South Second Street, a short distance from downtown.

While reading her letter, I felt a certain kinship with that woman and a desire to visit that area.  So my friend and I went there one day in July 2003.  It looked very different from how she remembered it.  She remembered a boarding house, two grocery stores, a corner saloon, a stable for horses, people who worked in the huge buildings of a woodenware company, and the freight trains that ran on the street where she and her two sisters and their parents lived. The Sister Lucy Fraud

Lúcia dos Santos (standing) with her cousin, Jacinta Marto, 1917

SOME VERY evil deeds have been perpetrated since the modernist sect subverted the true Catholic Church and took over its worship, doctrine and buildings. But none may be more wicked than the parading of an impostor Sister Lucy.

Lúcia dos Santos was one of the famous Fatima children to whom Our Lady appeared in 1917 in Portugal and issued her prophetic warnings, predicting World War II, Soviet Communism and a “third secret.” The visions were followed by the Miracle of the Sun witnessed by an estimated 70,000 people. The two younger children, Jacinta and Francisco, died before they reached adulthood, but Lúcia survived for many decades.

But formal face recognition studies have reportedly determined that the woman the Vatican claimed was “Sister Lucy” from 1968 until her reported death in 2005 was not in fact her. Public release of the full report is pending, but it was long obvious from informal studies that the two Lucys were not the same person. “The Two Sister Lucys: Photos and Facts” by Marian Horvat reveals the details.

What motives would the Vatican have for placing an impostor before the world? A pretender would help disguise the fact of more pervasive fraud:

Folks, if the Modernists are willing to go to such lengths to give credence to their Vatican II religion and keep it going, is it really so hard to believe that they’ve been presenting impostor “Popes” as well? (Source)

Paul VI with the imposter Lucy in 1967

Many believe the famous Third Secret of Fatima revealed apostasy and betrayal at the top.

Our Lady showed us the individual who I describe as the ‘holy Father’ in front of a multitude that was cheering him.

But there was a difference from a true holy Father, his devilish gaze, this one had the gaze of evil.

Then, after some moments we saw the same Pope entering a Church, but this Church was the Church of hell; there is no way to describe the ugliness of that place. It looked like a gray cement fortress with broken angles and windows similar to eyes; it had a beak in the roof of the building.

All of this is of no moment to the vast majority of people in the modern world, who either do not know of or do not believe in the miraculous occurrences of Fatima. But their naiveté does not change reality. This news could rock the world. (more…)

The Meaning of the Transfiguration

'THE Transfiguration also tells us something about our Resurrection: Our flesh will be resurrected with the glorious characteristics of impassibility, lightness, subtlety and radiance, like the resurrected body of Christ. That is, the body can no longer suffer: 'God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes: and death shall be no more, nor mourning, nor crying, nor sorrow shall be any more,' (7) says the Apocalypse. The glorious bodies will be able to move anywhere at will: to enter a closed room with its doors locked, as Christ entered the Cenacle on the day of the Resurrection, (8) and they will possess the greatest beauty. But, for now we are still in the battle and we have to continue to act. We cannot pretend to make three huts and sit down to rest just to contemplate God and enjoy His presence. Certainly we must contemplate Christ, but we must continue to act: That is why we always have to descend from the mountain." -- Fr. Paulo Alvarez

Trump Mania and 9/11

PROTESTANT minister Chuck Baldwin writes: It is totally amazing to me that the same people who say they don’t believe the mainstream media (MSM) and government (Deep State) versions of current events—which is why they voted for and love Donald Trump—have absolutely no reservations about accepting the official story that the 9/11 attacks were the work of jihadist Muslims and that America’s “War on Terror” is completely legitimate. These “always Trumpers” are dead set in their minds that America is at war with Islam; that Trump’s bombings of Syria were because President Assad is an evil, maniacal monster who gassed his own people; and that Trump’s expansion of the war in Afghanistan is totally in the interests of America’s national security. BUT WHAT IF ALL OF IT IS A BIG, FAT LIE? [...] Folks, 9/11 was a deception. The “War on Terror” is a deception. The phony left-right paradigm is a deception. FOX News is as much a deception as CNN. The “always Trump” group is as much a deception as the “never Trump” group. America has been in the throes of a great deception since September 11, 2001. And this deception is being perpetrated by Republicans and Democrats and conservatives and liberals alike.

To Be a Child in Gaza

AN 11-year-old boy was shot to death last week by an Israeli sniper. He is one of 154 unarmed people, including children, women, medics and journalists, who have been killed while taking part in what is known as the "Great March of Return." More than 16,000 have been wounded, many seriously. [View a list of all the people killed in the general conflict -- both Palestinians and Israelis -- since 2000 here.] In related news, 17-year-old Ahed al-Tamimi has been released from prison in Israel. She spent eight months in jail for slapping an Israeli soldier after her cousin was shot in the head. Your foreign aid at work --- to the tune of $10 million a day.

Pope Urban II Launches First Crusade

ON November 27, 1095 at Clermont in France, Pope Urban II launched the first crusade to reclaim the Holy Land from the Turks with this rousing sermon. Jerusalem was captured by the Catholic forces four years later. He died the year before this victory. (This version is attributed to Robert the Monk.)

Oh, race of Franks, race from across the mountains, race chosen and beloved by God as shines forth in very many of your works set apart from all nations by the situation of your country, as well as by your Catholic faith and the honor of the Holy Church! To you our discourse is addressed and for you our exhortation is intended. We wish you to know what a grievous cause has led us to Your country, what peril threatening you and all the faithful has brought us.

From the confines of Jerusalem and the city of Constantinople a horrible tale has gone forth and very frequently has been brought to our ears, namely, that a race from the kingdom of the Persians, an accursed race, a race utterly alienated from God, a generation forsooth which has not directed its heart and has not entrusted its spirit to God, has invaded the lands of those Christians and has depopulated them by the sword, pillage and fire; it has led away a part of the captives into its own country, and a part it has destroyed by cruel tortures; it has either entirely destroyed the churches of God or appropriated them for the rites of its own religion. They destroy the altars, after having defiled them with their uncleanness. (more…)

Russian Fantasies

JON writes:

I have been reading your blog for a few months, and have been enjoying it, though I am Reformed and not Catholic.

I watched the Perestroika Deception video and your other link on the Russia deception was quite taken aback at the suggestions that communism is still in power in Russia and other countries. It honestly makes my head spin, and will at least make me read critically.

I am wondering how you would see the rise of populism in Europe and the increased Christian rhetoric from countries like Poland and Hungary. Would you see these as real and encouraging developments that we can take heart from? (more…)

Pope Pius X vs. Herzl

KYLE writes:

In studying the origins of modern Zionism I came across this account in Theodor Herzl’s collected diaries, which can be viewed in full at Archive.orgThe Complete Diaries of Theodor Herzl chronicles the life of Herzl, the “father of modern political Zionism”, and his efforts to establish the state of Israel with the assistance of banking luminaries like the Rothschild family and Jacob Schiff. Reading these diaries is essential to understanding the state of modern geopolitics and the Zionist lobbies expansive influence today.

In 1904, Herzl, with the aid of Austrian papal portraitist, Berthold Dominik Lippay, set up a meeting with Pope Pius X at the Vatican where he’d attempt to cajole the Supreme Pontiff into bestowing his blessing upon the Zionist cause. Instead, Herzl encountered a cordial, but resilient force of nature that deflected the political activists every attempt to justify a state of Israel in Palestine with the approval of papal authority. The diary entry provides a glimpse into the now alien theology of the Catholic Church of the early-twentieth century and a weary but faithful Pope, who, living up to his legendary matter-of-fact farm boy persona, made it clear that unless the Jewish people accepted Jesus Christ, the Church would continue to deny a Zionist Israel. Below is Herzl’s entry for the audience with Pius X. (more…)

The Motorist’s Prayer

The Motorist's Prayer Lord grant me a steady hand and watchful eye That no man may be hurt when I pass by Thou givest life; I pray no act of mine May take away, or mar, this act of Thine. Save those, dear Lord, who bear me company, From shock and pain, and all calamity. Teach me to use my car for others’ need, Nor miss through love of speed The beauty of this world; that so I may With joy and courtesy go on my way. --- Source

Padre Pio and the Crown of Thorns

"WHILE Padre Pio was still alive, there was a pious young girl who was engaged to a university student who had lost his faith, disdaining religious practices. She would not go through with marrying him unless he returned to the Church. They had argued about this incessantly but to no avail. Finally he consented to come to San Giovanni Rotondo with her, although he was quite cynical. He did not believe in the holiness of Padre Pio, considering him an impostor and charlatan. They went to early Mass at the friary church, and on the first morning the girl was amazed to see her fiancé looking pale and shocked as he gazed at the altar during the Consecration. He whispered to her, “Does this happen every day?” She said yes, but was not aware of what he really meant by the question. This went on for a number of days. One morning at Mass she saw him crying like a baby. Leaving the church, he explained to her that he sees Padre Pio on the altar with a knotted crown of thorns on his head, and blood running down his face. His priestly garments are illuminated by a dazzling light. He looks like the “Ecce Homo!” with his face transformed into the face of Jesus. The fiancé said he was crying because he was so moved upon seeing that in spite of all his apparent suffering, Padre Pio remained…

Literacy’s Junk Food

ALAN writes:

“Newspapers, like everything else, are subject to abuses.  Even when…restricted, their universal utility may be questioned, for one unconsciously falls into a habit of hasty reading, and this dissipates the mind, rendering it unfit for hard labor.  In old times, when the printing press was imperfect, our fathers had few books and papers; but those which they possessed were not merely skimmed over, but thoughtfully and leisurely read, so that one book developed the intellect more than months of desultory scanning of the news of the present day…..”

              — “Abuses of Newspaper Literature,” in Leaflets of Thought, published by Mrs. Eugenia Cuthbert’s Boarding and Day School for Young Ladies, St. Louis, Missouri.  April 1, 1871, p. 3.

Just as there are too many things to see nowadays [Pieper on Learning to See,” The Thinking Housewife, Oct. 22, 2012 ], there are also too many things to read:  Too many slickly-fashioned books, magazines, and ephemeral nonsense and worse in daily newspapers.  But newspapers have now been largely supplanted by the even more numerous and more deceptive ephemera on countless Internet sites, thus compounding the problem addressed by Mrs. Cuthbert and her Faculty.  The mass communications industry has not checked the cause for their concern but worsened it.

“But more people today can read than ever before!,” it will be objected by those in the grip of the mass communications monster and the fallacy of “mass literacy.”  The proper reply to that is:  To be able to read is one thing; to understand what one reads is quite another.  Millions are able to do the first but not the second.  Literacy does not make people educated or thoughtful.  (more…)

The Perestroika Deception

THIS 2003 INTERVIEW on The McIlhany Report with the English publisher Christopher Story may puncture some of the Putin-worship found among American patriots, who see Russia as representing a revival of Christianity in contrast to a decadent West. Story, who died in 2010, was publisher of Perestroika Deception by Soviet KGB defector Anatoly Golitsyn. According to Golitsyn, the West did not win the Cold War. The fall of the Soviet Union was part of a long-range strategy to place Russia at the head of a world government. In an interview in 1995, Story said: "The purpose of perestroika has been to convince the gullible West that Communism is dead, that the Soviet Union has collapsed."

Reagan at Bitburg Cemetery

KYLE writes:

The Ron Unz piece on Judaism brought to mind all of the public personalities who have publicly criticized or done something that wasn’t approved by the Jewish community and/or Israel and how in virtually every instance, no matter the context or intent, it led to intense backlash and the obligatory charges of anti-semitism and Nazism. One of the most notable instances was in 1985 when Ronald Reagan defied public pressure and honored his commitment to West German Chancellor Helmut Kohl, who asked him to visit a German military cemetery in Bitburg to mark the fortieth anniversary of the end of World War II.

The Jew Taboo

RON Unz’s excellent article today, quoted in this previous post, deserves further mention here. Bear in mind, please, that Unz is Jewish. He writes:

… [O]ver the years and the decades, our dominant media organs of news and entertainment have successfully conditioned most Americans to suffer a sort of mental allergic reaction to topics sensitive to Jews, which leads to all sorts of issues being considered absolutely out of bounds. And with America’s very powerful Jewish elites thereby insulated from almost all public scrutiny, Jewish arrogance and misbehavior remain largely unchecked and can increase completely without limit.

I’ve also sometimes suggested to people that one under-emphasized aspect of a Jewish population, greatly magnifying its problematical character, is the existence of what might be considered a biological sub-morph of exceptionally fanatical individuals, always on hair-trigger alert to launch verbal and sometimes physical attacks of unprecedented fury against anyone they regard as insufficiently friendly towards Jewish interests. Every now and then, a particularly brave or foolhardy public figure challenges some off-limits topic and is almost always overwhelmed and destroyed by a veritable swarm of these fanatical Jewish attackers. Just as the painful stings of the self-sacrificing warrior caste of an ant colony can quickly teach large predators to go elsewhere, fears of provoking these “Jewish berserkers” can often severely intimidate writers or politicians, causing them to choose their words very carefully or even completely avoid discussing certain controversial subjects, thereby greatly benefiting Jewish interests as a whole. And the more such influential people are thus intimidated into avoiding a particular topic, the more that topic is perceived as strictly taboo, and avoided by everyone else as well. (more…)
