F. Scott Fitzgerald said that the rich were not like you and me. When I was young, I didn’t relate to “The Great Gatsby”. I re-read it 10 yrs later and understood the point completely, life educates you. But I find myself reading about these bankers, and once again, I’m having trouble understanding them. They have more money and power than they would ever need, and they are so petty and scrounging that they begrudge the rest of humanity ownership of anything, even heat, food, family, houses, yards. Sometimes I wonder if they are so jaded, bored, and unhappy, that they are actually bitter and envious of “little people” who find joy in family, simple pastimes, loving homes. They want to own everything, kill most of humanity, and control and “re-engineer” whoever is left. This is beyond the rich man stealing the poor man’s lamb. They are like the grade school bully on steroids, delighting in cruelty and theft of the weak and small, successful simply because they are the most ruthless and evil.
