IF YOUÂ are reading this post you have found your way to this site after it disappeared and reappeared, then disappeared and reappeared, then disappeared and reappeared, etc.
Problems began last year when my hosting company was sold to another company. In more than 15 years with my original provider, I had called Technical Support maybe a dozen times, but probably less. I have spent many hours on the phone in the last year. I couldn’t count up all the calls I have made. My site was moved to a new server and the problems got even worse.
Earlier this week, I logged in and everything seemed normal. That was a real thrill. The next day my header, as you can see, disappeared. So far, I have not been able to get it back. I do have backups, but the backup service was not connecting to the site yesterday. Good grief.
Despite it all, I am grateful for this technology, which I had no part in creating, and for those who work hard at tech desks to answer questions and pleas for help, especially when they must deal with incompetents like me. We’re all in this together. I don’t have the budget for a personal web developer, so I have to figure things out as I go, using various call-in services to India. I rarely get the same person twice, but generally they have been courteous and tried their best.
I also appreciate the readers who have alerted me to problems. At one point, I could get the site, but many readers could not. If you have problems in the future, please clear your cache, don’t use a bookmark and look for it directly on a search engine. That has worked for most people recently.
Please rest assured that if the site does not appear, I am on the phone with Tech Support.
And thanks for reading!
