The Passion of Christ is by itself sufficient to form us in every virtue. For whoever wishes to live perfectly, need do no more than scorn what Christ scorned on the cross, and desire what He there desired. There is no virtue of which, from the cross, Christ does not give us an example.

If you seek an example of charity, Greater love than this no man hath, than that a man lay down His life for his friends (John xv. 13), and this Christ did on the cross. And since it was for us that He gave his life, it should not be burdensome to bear for Him whatever evils come our way. MILES MATHIS shoots holes through the Boulder “mass shooting.” He comes up with connections to Hollywood, intelligence, the military, Wall Street and AstraZeneca. It’s no accident that this event took place in the Denver suburbs, where other fake massacres distracting and terrorizing the American public into submission have been staged. He ends his research article with this:

OK, I am tiring of this, but if you want to do more, I suggest you read closely the Washington Post victims announcement, which doesn’t read like it should. What a sensible person would expect is a few lines about each victim, sticking to the facts. You wouldn’t expect them to be unloading a lot of tearjerking emotionalism on you, since—if real—the event is sad enough on its own. You don’t need your response telegraphed like this, do you? You don’t need to be told what to feel. But as is usual with these events, the whole thing is being keyed up with pregnant women, dancing people, balloons, and other sugary anecdotes. To be blunt, the whole page reads like amateurish propaganda, composed by the usual set of barely literate recruits in sub-basement 10 at Langley. You don’t really learn anything about the victims; instead you read a bunch of unverifiable treacle about how they loved puppies or puppies loved them or something. It’s pathetic. You could judge the whole event by the tone of this article, and I do. The way it is written tells us without further research we are being yanked. The page reeks of desperation and miscalculation.

This is not a blanket endorsement of Mr. Mathis. I sincerely appreciate his hard work here. (Please avoid his artworks page.) You have to have courage, a healthy sense of outrage and a capacity for hours of thankless tedium to go into the details of these events. (more…)

But now that mass inoculations are well on their way, it turns its attention again to mass shootings, a favorite means of promoting fear, division, distraction and gun control. It was only a matter of time. They gotta get those guns. They gotta keep you tense and begging for more security. I have not studied the Boulder shooting, but the default position on these events should always be, they are staged until proven otherwise. The smiling actors, ketchup-colored blood, phony wounds, lousy scripts, brazen violations of emergency protocols, the made-for-TV villains found within minutes, the Hollywood celebrities calling for gun control -- it's all so incredibly tedious and predictable. Where once the fakery was shocking, now it's boring, though none the less treasonous and evil. The people behind this stuff, who actually think they're good at it, are the lowest of the low, the scum of the earth. They will not, in the end, get away with their lies. Americans deserve this for having surrendered themselves to an amoral system and mass entertainment. This is a theater with no exits. Or to switch analogies, this is a roller coaster you can't get off. It prevents people from  focusing on the important issues, such as being systematically ripped off by the government, both political parties and the financial establishment; such as children being spiritually (and now physically)…

FROM the remarkable letters of the late William Strojie, who wrote during the 1970s and ’80s about the Revolution in the Catholic Church:

The Jansenist takes a dim view of God’s mercy; he expects that only a few will be saved, but feels quite certain that he will be one of those few (of the remnant or elect) who have earned the right to Heaven, mainly by his spiritual works.  This is what makes him frantic when Mass and Sacraments are no longer regularly available.  It is what makes him chase after those charlatans and cash operators who promise to provide a substitute church for him in our time. And he takes with him many good Catholics who are simply confused.  There are many degrees of that state of mind, soul and temperament, a kind of pietism, which I here call Jansenism.  It is, as most writers agree, a thing difficult to pin down, which I am not trying to do precisely.  My main purpose in all this is to alert some, who might read this paper, that it is possible to appear very Catholic without being quite so really.

In the U.S., six or more traditionalist organizations are definitely Jansenistic.  They are impressively Catholic in the appearance of their chapels, as are their priests in the performance of the Mass; and generally in the publications it is difficult for Catholics unread in these matters to see where they deviate from the Catholic balance or center.  (more…)

Christ assumed human nature in order to restore fallen humanity. He had therefore to suffer and to do, according to human nature, the things which could serve as a remedy against the sin of the fall.

Man’s sin consists in this that he so cleaves to bodily goods that he neglects what is good spiritually. It was therefore necessary for the Son of God to show this in the humanity He had taken, through all He did and suffered, so that men should repute temporal things, whether good or evil, as nothing, for otherwise, hindered by an exaggerated affection for them, they would be less devoted to spiritual things.
