The Evil of Hitlerism

[To argue that the example of Hitler and National Socialism are no solution to the problems of contemporary life, that they led Germany to disaster and that they embraced godless paganism is not to justify all that was done to Germany during the world wars and their aftermath nor to deny all the lies and exaggerations about that time.]

FROM Between the Church and the Third Reich, by Rev. Julio Meinvielle, 1937:

Hitler stated explicitly in 1924 that the new German church must be an Aryan church, not a universal church like the Catholic Church, but a strictly German one. ‘We want no other god than Germany,’ he declared. ‘Fanaticism in our faith, in our hope, and in our love for Germany—that alone is our religion.’ Ludendorff, always brutal in his expression, declared, ‘In the Catholic Church we find our most dangerous enemy. The black peril in Germany is greater than the red peril.’ This was simply following a directive from the German episcopate: Catholics were prohibited from being registered members of Hitler’s party, and the sacraments were denied to party members. When the party officially inquired about the basis for these prohibitions, the bishop replied, ‘We must give these instructions because the program of the National Socialist party contains principles incompatible with Catholic doctrine.’ The National Socialist party program contains principles incompatible with Catholic doctrine, especially paragraph 24, which no Catholic can accept without renouncing their faith. This paragraph states that the party grants freedom to creeds that do not endanger its existence, and recognized party leaders include the Catholic Church among the creeds dangerous to the state …

“For the Germanic race, we can summarize it thus: in the beginning, there was the Nordic race with blue eyes and blond hair, originating from the polar regions, which spread throughout the earth all that is perfection and civilization. All evil stems from foreign influences exerted upon this Nordic race. The principal foreign influence comes from ecclesiastical Christianity, a synthesis of Judaic and Etruscan corruption. The doctrines of the Catholic Church are not a remedy for the Germanic people; they are, in fact, bastardized versions of certain Syriac and Persian myths…

“But heretics have always been the noble defenders of the race and of civilization against this Christianity: everything belonging to the Church is evil, everything opposed to the Church is noble. The blasphemies that cover the book, almost its entire surface, are particularly vicious toward the sacred person of the Pope. Moreover, the fact remains that many priests have been arrested and deported to concentration camps simply for criticizing Rauschenberg’s work, as was their pastoral duty…”

Note: The author of this entry on Rev. Meinvielle’s piece states:

.. we Catholics do not care about anyone’s race, nation, region, flag, lineage, or family, but rather that they fully embrace the Catholic faith and be ready to make the renunciations and sacrifices it commands

This is true when it comes to spiritual matters but when it comes to practical culture, this is obviously not true. After all, most Catholics, whatever race they are, choose to marry someone of the same race.

Would he say,

we Catholics do not care about anyone’s sex, but rather that they fully embrace the Catholic faith and be ready to make the renunciations and sacrifices it commands?

Would he marry a man as long as he was a Catholic?

Would he say,

I will trade your children for mine as long as they are all Catholic?

Of course not.

Our faith does not abolish our natural distinctions or the uniqueness of different races and the cultures they create. The Catholic Chinese belong, generally speaking, in China and the Catholic Irish belong, generally speaking, in Ireland (or another country of European ancestry.)

A race is simply an extended family and people cultivate their religion best in an organic setting, not a multicultural Tower of Babel.
